Zanzibar caught my imagination a long time ago and I’d love to see it. I even got a Tanzanian visa back in 2010, but we never made it further than Inhambane in Malawi. I have to check if this is a viable longer-term place, but definitely a Bucket List visit.
Monkey Temple! Not really, but that’s all I can say as my personal energy slams to a halt after a long day of day of researching, updating and spending far too much time trying to make the intros all the same length so my grid format doesn’t fall apart.
This is a bit of a cliche, but clearly I’m not the only one fascinated by this seemingly magical place. One day I’ll get round to telling the 20-year-old tale of the Tarot card reader and the Inca Trail, but first I need to find a cheaper way to get there!
Lake Malawi has always appealed to me and I’ve yet to actually set eyes upon it’s shores. Known as “The Warm Heart of Africa”, Malawi offers good value and its famed friendliness extends to SA passport holders. Riding the ferry is a Bucket Lister!
Overlanding from Cape Town to Cairo… no jokes, this is a monster undertaking and there’s no way I can attempt it while working. That said, I’m also OK with doing it bit by bit in easier chunks, perhaps picking up from Windhoek or Inhambane.
