Georgia absolutely deserves a mention, even if only for the fact that it is the only country to offer a full year’s stay without a visa. It’s a little pricier than SA, but that’s to be expected for Europe. This definitely warrants more investigation, but I’d rather Russia was more peaceful.
Spanning Asia and Europe, Turkey is rich in history and a modern melting pot. Although I’ve never been, I once wrote for a Turkish news agency and also gazed at the Turkish shoreline while working on Cypriot cruise ship (they don’t get along, so we we never docked).Â
Portugal has introduced a digital nomad visa, but it really shines as a longer-term destination for those seeking an affordable route to European Union residency and a passport. It is cheap by EU standards, but recent years have seen the cost of living and rentals rise rapidly.
