Tanzania

Tanzania has been elusive. I got as far as getting a yellow fever card and visa (we needed them in 2010), but never made it past Mozambique. I like the idea of the Tazara Express and of course Zanzibar. If I feel fit enough, maybe I can even get that Kili selfie haha!

Mozambique

I really enjoy Mozambique. I tested the digital nomad waters there all the way back in 2010, living almost directly under the country’s second 3G mast in Tofo near Inhambane. A return is long overdue and Strab at the end of May is a great music festival that’s always recommended.

Zambia

Zambia warrants some more research. I’ve recently been reminded that it’s accessible via Namibia and I’ve also always liked the idea of the Tazara Express, which is a weekly train that runs from Lusaka to Dar es Salaam and back. Much more info to follow …Â

Namibia

Namibia allows 90 days of visa-free travel for South Africans with a return ticket. (Not too sure how that works if arriving overland.) Namibia is easily accessible and, as I only recently realised, it offers a viable route into Zambia. More to follow…
