Hi! I’m James and I’m a South African remote worker and company owner with wanderlust. That means I want to go places and see the world, but I don’t have the same passport or currency-based earnings as most ‘First World’ digital nomads.
This site aims to fill the gap for South Africans and those from other middle income countries. Maybe later I’ll take this public and try to monetise it, but for now this is mostly just a place for me to gather all my research, help me with my own travel plans and share my plans with friends.

I’m aspiring to start “nomading” again after far too long. I’m doing my research and I may as well share it. I got frustrated by strings of articles about supposedly cheap and easy digital nomad visas that, as a South African, were expensive and difficult.
This site’s niche is that it caters to South Africans specifically and hopefully to middle- and lower-income earners elsewhere. What’s cheap and easy for those in the US or EU isn’t always quite as doable for us in the Global South.
As a South African living in Cape Town, I’m openly and unashamedly focusing first on the opportunities available to me, sharing my research as I go along.
We’re not rich, but we’re not all poor either. There are still places where a semi-decent job in a half-decent currency can cover your living costs with relative ease. We might not be able to hob-knob in Europe or the US, but there’s much of the world that is still open to us.
This isn’t a site for people seeking the best beach cocktails and Insta backgrounds. This is about a lifestyle that’s financially sustainable while continuing to work.
It’s about exploring the world, without sacrificing your retirement.
