Cape to Cairo

Overlanding from Cape Town to Cairo… no jokes, this is a monster undertaking and there’s no way I can attempt it while working. That said, I’m also OK with doing it bit by bit in easier chunks. So far I’ve gone as far as Windhoek and Inhambane, so either could be good to pick up from. For bonus points, spot the tiger in this ridiculous AI image (for the record, I just got tired of trying to explain that there are no tigers in Africa and this was the least silly!)

  • Visas: Sudan/Ethiopia get trickiest
  • Flights: Overland!
  • Currency: Many many monies
  • Costs: Cheap milage but its loooong

Visas

This crosses multiple countries so visas are a complicated issue. From what I’ve read, the trickiest leg is from Kenya through Ethiopia and Sudan on to Egypt as visas need to be applied for from respective embassies and they are only valid for 30 days while travel is slow and unreliable.
